Ekiti State Approves N165M for Special Schools Rehabilitation

The Ekiti State Government has approved a total of N165 million for the rehabilitation of two special schools in the state. This decision was announced by Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, following a meeting of the State Executive Council on Wednesday.

The funds include N85.73 million allocated for the Government Special School in Ido Ekiti, which will cover the reconstruction of a failing drainage system, concrete landscaping, and the construction of a new culvert. Additionally, N88.94 million has been approved for the Government Special School for the Deaf in Ikoro Ekiti, which has been severely affected by erosion and drainage issues.

The interventions aim to restore critical infrastructure, improve safety, and provide conducive learning environments for students, particularly those with special educational needs. The projects are expected to be executed within 16 weeks by the State Bureau of Special Projects using direct labor, emphasizing the urgency of minimizing disruption to students' learning activities.
