APC and ADC Supporters Clash Over Alleged Vote Buying

On Saturday, during the Ekiti State governorship election, a clash occurred at polling unit 4, ward 2 in Ilaw between supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over allegations of vote buying. The incident briefly disrupted voting and resulted in injuries to an ADC supporter, identified as Dare Bejid, who was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.

The ADC claimed that APC politicians attempted to influence voters by distributing cash in the area, which led to confrontations as supporters tried to stop the alleged cash distribution. The situation escalated when an APC chieftain reportedly arrived in a Toyota Jeep with money intended for voters, triggering violence.

Security personnel were deployed to restore order, and although calm was eventually achieved, heightened security measures remained in place to ensure the election proceeded smoothly. The ADC candidate commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their professionalism amidst the chaos.
