Court Orders INEC to Publish PDP Candidate Oluyed's Name

Dr. Wole Oluyed, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026, expressed his satisfaction with a recent court ruling.

The Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include Oluyed's name and the party's logo on the ballot, following INEC's earlier omission of his name from the final list of candidates published on January 19. This decision came after Oluyed challenged INEC's actions, which were influenced by internal divisions within the PDP.

Oluyed's spokesperson, Gani Salau, stated that the judgment is a triumph for justice and democracy, and he urged the people of Ekiti to support the PDP in the upcoming elections. Chief Sanya Atofari, from the PDP Southwest Zonal Public Secretariat, also congratulated Oluyed, emphasizing the importance of legal victories in upholding democracy.

The PDP is now focused on grassroots mobilization ahead of the elections.
