Ekiti University Mourns Loss in Hotel Party Stampede

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology in Ekiti expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of three individuals, including two graduates and a student, during a stampede at a post-convocation party. The incident took place at Emir Hotel following the university's second convocation ceremony held on Saturday.

Registrar Mr. Funmilola Adeusi issued a statement on Monday, conveying condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

The university confirmed that the convocation proceedings were conducted peacefully and without disruption. However, the stampede occurred off-campus during a private event organized independently by graduates.

Preliminary investigations by the Ekiti State Police Command revealed that the stampede followed a fight that broke out at the hotel around 1 AM on Sunday. Police Commissioner Michael Falad has ordered an investigation into the incident.
