Urgent Pension Reforms Needed in Nigeria, Says EKSU Don

During his 106th inaugural lecture at Ekiti State University, Prof. Lukman Adesida, a professor of industrial sociology, urged for urgent reforms in Nigeria's pension system.

He highlighted the necessity of early retirement planning to address the growing challenges faced by retirees, including financial uncertainty and social isolation. Adesida argued that retirement should not be viewed merely as the end of a work life but as a crucial stage requiring thorough preparation.

He warned that workers who fail to plan adequately risk facing a diminished quality of life post-retirement. The professor called for a reform agenda that protects current and future retirees, ensuring that pension management is transparent and trustworthy.
