Nigerian Workers Urged to Secure Retirement Savings

During the 2026 Inspen Online Retirement Summit held in Lagos, Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, Director General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), and Ms.

Omolola Oloworaran, representing PenCom's corporate communications, urged Nigerian workers to utilize multiple savings windows, including insurance products, to ensure a dignified retirement. The summit, which included Dr.

Julius Odidi from NAICOM and Mr. Ibrahim Buwai, highlighted the importance of the Pension Revolution 2.0 initiative, which aims to enhance pension administration in Nigeria.

This initiative allows workers to plan their pensions regardless of their career choices. Mr.

Tom Ogboi, chairman of STI Leas Limit, shared personal experiences from his retirement since 2002, stressing the need for strategic planning. Dr.

Muda Yusuf, CEO of CPPE, lamented the plight of retirees in Nigeria, noting that many who dedicated years of service suffer due to systemic failures and low retirement awareness.
