El-Rufai Files Complaint Against ICPC Over Political Pressure

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of plotting to remove him from political participation. He filed a 30-page criminal complaint against ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu and four other officials.

El-Rufai claims that ICPC officials informed him during his detention that his release would be contingent upon ceasing his political activities. He argues that this demand constitutes an infringement of his constitutional rights.

In his complaint, particularly in paragraphs 12, 22, and 24, he outlines allegations of wrongful confinement aimed at compelling him to abandon his political pursuits. El-Rufai requests the court to examine the conduct of the ICPC officials, asserting that their actions represent an abuse of office and an unlawful attempt to restrict his participation in the political process.

He cites sections 264 and 267 of the Penal Code in his accusations.
