El-Rufai Accuses ICPC of Political Pressure for Release

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, made serious allegations against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), claiming that he was pressured to quit politics in order to secure his release from detention. In a 30-page complaint submitted to the court, El-Rufai named ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu and four other officials, asserting that during his custody, he was explicitly told that his political activities would prolong his detention.

He argued that this demand violated his fundamental rights and constituted an abuse of office. El-Rufai's legal team detailed that the pressure exerted on him was unlawful and aimed at suppressing his constitutional rights.

He is seeking a review of the ICPC's actions, which he claims amount to wrongful confinement and an attempt to compel him to abandon his political aspirations. The complaint cites specific paragraphs and sections of the law to support his claims.
