El-Rufai's Legal Battle Raises Concerns Over Rule of Law

Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, is currently embroiled in a legal battle involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). He voluntarily honored an invitation from the EFCC on February 16, 2026, but has since been held in detention for over 70 days without formal charges being filed against him.
