DSS Reopens Investigation into Dadiyata's 2019 Abduction

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reopened the investigation into the 2019 disappearance of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, who was reportedly abducted by gunmen near his residence in Kaduna State on August 1, 2019. His whereabouts have remained unknown for nearly seven years.

The DSS's decision to revive the case comes amid renewed public attention, particularly following a video interview released by Reno Omokri with Kadijah Dadiyata, Dadiyata's wife, who expressed her ongoing concerns about her husband's disappearance and appealed for assistance. Kadijah recounted witnessing the abduction on August 2, 2019.

In response to the resurfacing of the case, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has been urged to consider measures to support Dadiyata's family. Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has denied any involvement in the disappearance, while the DSS has reportedly seized El-Rufai's travel documents to prevent him from leaving the country during the ongoing investigation.
