Salihu Lukman Exits ADC Coalition Over Hostile Treatment

Salihu Lukman, a former national vice chairman of the North West Progress Congress (APC), has announced his suspension from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, attributing his decision to sustained hostile treatment from Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State. In a message addressed to the nation, Lukman expressed his disappointment with the political marginalization he faced within the coalition, claiming that El-Rufai's actions reduced his status and sidelined him within the party.

He emphasized that the coalition's internal dynamics were detrimental to its unity and electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections. Lukman criticized the coalition's leadership for reproducing old political practices that undermine democratic values, stating that he preferred to remain inactive rather than continue to endure the hostile environment.

He expressed gratitude to David Mark, the chairman of the ADC, for his leadership, clarifying that his actions were not a protest against the national leadership of the party.
