ADC Declares El-Rufai a Victim of Political Persecution

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai is suffering from political persecution, calling for his immediate release. This resolution was reached during the party's 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on a Saturday.

The party's communiqué, signed by National Public Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, recognized El-Rufai as a prisoner of conscience and emphasized the need to heighten political debate surrounding his situation, especially given the current political climate and the ADC's aim to challenge the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 elections. The NEC also approved the results of recent primary elections and discussed organizational changes to strengthen the party's structure ahead of future electoral contests.

Additionally, the NEC approved the establishment of a caretaker committee at various levels to enhance grassroots organization and leadership continuity within the ADC.
