El-Rufai Granted N100m Bail in Wiretapping Case

On Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, bail in the sum of N100 million in an alleged wiretapping trial. The bail conditions require El-Rufai to provide sureties who must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and deposit original certificates of land ownership with the court registry.

Additionally, the sureties must be federal civil servants not below grade level 17 and provide evidence of salary payments for at least three months, along with an authentic letter from their bank. El-Rufai is also required to deposit a valid international passport with the court and report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) on the last Friday of every month.

Justice Abdulmalik warned that failure to comply with these conditions would result in the automatic revocation of the bail. The judge also ordered that the trial be expedited.
