ICPC Denies Health Rumors About El-Rufai in Custody

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has addressed rumors regarding former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, specifically denying claims that he suffered a nosebleed while in custody. ICPC spokesperson Okor Odei clarified that El-Rufai is in stable condition and that no health incidents have occurred during his detention.

El-Rufai was taken into custody on February 18, 2024, following a release from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he spent two nights. He is under investigation for alleged financial improprieties amounting to N432 billion during his time as governor from 2015 to 2023.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has recommended his prosecution based on these allegations. The ICPC is expected to complete its investigation soon and will formally charge El-Rufai in court, with the details of the charges to be disclosed once jurisdiction is confirmed.
