Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Calls Nasir El-Rufai a Political Prisoner

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former presidential adviser, has labeled Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, as a political prisoner. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Baba-Ahmed criticized the ongoing detention of El-Rufai, arguing that it has escalated beyond the state's authority to hold him without trial.

He contended that this situation damages public confidence in the rule of law and undermines the acceptance of justice standards. Baba-Ahmed emphasized that keeping El-Rufai in custody without due legal process sends a detrimental message regarding respect for the law and mocks the standards of decency and justice.

His comments coincided with a plea from El-Rufai's family, who reminded the Tinubu administration that such treatment is undeserved. Hajiya Asiya, El-Rufai's first wife, also mentioned the APC campaign during the 2023 elections, asserting that the detention of El-Rufai is unjust.
