El-Rufai Granted Medical Access Amid Bail Review

On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Kaduna, presided over by Justice Rilwan Aikawa, granted former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai access to medical treatment in Abuja as his bail review continues. El-Rufai, along with co-defendant Joel Adoga, faces ten counts related to the alleged conversion of public funds and possession of proceeds from corrupt practices.

Both defendants have pleaded not guilty. During the proceedings, defense counsel Oluwol Olaniyan requested the court to relax the bail conditions, which was opposed by the ICPC's lawyer, Agada Akogwu, who filed a counter affidavit.

The court has adjourned the ruling on the bail variation application to May 7. The court's approval allows El-Rufai to receive medical treatment at a facility, including Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye Hospital, under strict supervision by the ICPC, ensuring compliance with court directives regarding his custody.
