El-Rufai Discusses 2027 Election Against Tinubu

In an interview with BBC Hausa, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, addressed the possibility of contesting against Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. While he did not indicate any immediate ambition to run for office, he did not entirely rule out the chance of seeking election in the future.

El-Rufai expressed his current concerns regarding governance and the performance of Tinubu's administration, suggesting that he aims to contribute to the removal of ineffective governance ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that there is no personal rift between himself and President Tinubu, despite highlighting disagreements based on differing objectives within the current administration.

El-Rufai also noted that his political disagreements are not personal and mentioned his successor, Uba Sani, dismissing claims of fallout between them. He stressed the importance of political relationships and coalitions, particularly among former opposition members, to unite efforts in saving Nigeria.
