El-Rufai Detained as ICPC Investigates Financial Misconduct

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is currently in detention as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) conducts an investigation into allegations of financial misconduct associated with his administration. The ICPC raided El-Rufai's residence as part of this ongoing investigation, which has heightened scrutiny surrounding his financial activities during his tenure in office.

Muyiwa Adekey, El-Rufai's media adviser, confirmed the raid and the ongoing inquiry. Following his detention on Monday, El-Rufai was transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday night, which granted him administrative bail.

However, his lawyer has described the search as unlawful, claiming it violates established legal procedures and El-Rufai's fundamental rights. ICPC spokesperson John Odei has confirmed the investigation but declined to provide further details, stating that the inquiry remains ongoing.
