El-Rufai Faces Charges Over Job Losses and Demolitions

Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is set to be arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on charges including abuse of office and fraud. The charges stem from allegations of widespread job losses and market demolitions during his tenure, which have severely impacted traders and sacked teachers.

Traders, represented by Alhaji Abduljaleel Abdullahi Namama and Moham Idri, claim that their markets were demolished without compensation, leaving them destitute. They demand accountability from El-Rufai, stating that he had promised compensation that was never fulfilled.

Sacked teachers, including Esther Mose and Betti Henri, also seek justice for their unfair dismissals and unpaid entitlements. Joseph Chori and Jonathan Matthew, local residents, highlight the human rights violations experienced under El-Rufai's administration and urge the federal government to ensure he faces justice.

The ICPC has confirmed the arraignment date will be communicated in due course.
