El-Rufai's Family Accuses ICPC of Medical Access Denial

The family of Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, has publicly accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of restricting access to medical care and food while he remains in custody. According to a statement issued on Thursday, despite a court order granting unrestricted access to his personal doctor, ICPC officials allegedly prevented the doctor from visiting El-Rufai at the ICPC headquarters on May 15.

The family described this action as a direct violation of the court order and an attack on fundamental rights. They further alleged that Aisha El-Rufai, his wife, was turned away when she arrived at 7 PM, and that food deliveries were not permitted after 6:30 PM.

The family condemned the ICPC's actions as arbitrary and claimed that the commission is engaging in intimidation. They emphasized that they will no longer accept such treatment and are working to ensure El-Rufai receives daily meals.

This situation has drawn attention, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar calling for El-Rufai's release.
