El-Rufai Family Denies ICPC's Phone Tapping Claims

The family of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, issued a statement in response to allegations made by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The ICPC claimed that phone tapping equipment was discovered during a search of El-Rufai's residence in Abuja.

In their statement, the family refuted these claims, stating that the agency only found old discarded mobile phones, some dating back 20 years, as well as storage devices like flash drives and laptops. They characterized the ICPC's allegations as a fabrication aimed at tarnishing El-Rufai's reputation, referring to it as a "media war." The family emphasized the importance of the right to remain silent and criticized the ICPC's actions as a violation of fundamental human rights.

This statement was made public on a Monday, coinciding with the filing of an affidavit by the ICPC in a high court in the Federal Capital Territory, opposing El-Rufai's suit alleging violations of his rights.
