APC Defends Electoral Act Amendments Amid Opposition Claims

Felix Morka, a representative of the All Progressives Congress (APC), explained in an interview that the party is not vocally opposing the recent amendments to the Electoral Act, unlike the opposition parties. He emphasized that the APC respects the authority of the National Assembly and sees no reason to intimidate anyone regarding the amendments.

Morka noted that the Electoral Act was promulgated by the National Assembly in accordance with its constitutional authority. He expressed uncertainty about why the opposition believes the amendments skew the electoral process in favor of the APC.

Morka clarified that the amendments are intended to enhance the representation of the people across various political parties and do not inherently favor the APC. He dismissed claims that the amendments are flawed or unfair, asserting that they are a product of collective efforts by Nigerian lawmakers.
