Rybakina Reaches US Open Semis, Becomes World No. 1

Elena Rybakina has made history by reaching the semi-finals of the US Open and securing the women’s world No. 1 ranking for the first time. The Kazakh player achieved this milestone by defeating China's Zheng Qinwen in a challenging match, coming back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

This victory not only marks her advancement to the semi-finals but also makes her the first player representing Kazakhstan to attain the top position in the women’s tennis rankings. Rybakina's rise to the No. 1 ranking follows her earlier success at the Australian Open earlier in the year.

In the semi-finals, she is set to face American player Coco Gauff. With this achievement, Rybakina becomes the 30th woman to hold the world No. 1 ranking in women's tennis.
