Elizade VC Urges Parents to Avoid Early Foreign Studies

Professor Philip Oguntund, the Vice Chancellor of Elizade University in Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, warned parents and guardians against sending young children abroad for studies at an early stage. During an engagement with secondary school administrators, he highlighted the unintended emotional pain and familial disconnect that can arise from such decisions.

Oguntund recounted his own experience of turning down two foreign education offers for his children, insisting they complete their first degree in Nigeria, a decision he now regrets. He noted that many parents rush to send their children overseas, often leading to deep regret due to issues associated with foreign education, including value erosion and weakened family bonds.

Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, the registrar of the institution, assured stakeholders that Elizade University remains a hub for academic excellence, offering 32 fully accredited programs, particularly emphasizing the nursing program, which allows graduates to earn four distinct professional academic certifications.
