Okpebholo Urges Unity and Transparency in Edo Assembly

On Monday, Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo addressed the newly elected Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Yekini Idiaye, who represents Akoko-Edo Constituency I, at the Government House in Benin City. Okpebholo urged the new leadership to embrace humility, unity, transparency, and teamwork, advising lawmakers to set aside personal differences and focus on serving the people.

He emphasized that political office is temporary and should be approached with a strong sense of responsibility. The governor highlighted the need for internal resolution of disagreements among lawmakers, warning that failure to involve all members could lead to divisions.

Okpebholo called for effective leadership through dialogue and teamwork, noting that the Assembly had operated without major crises for about two years. He encouraged lawmakers to strengthen their presence in their constituencies as elections approach, aiming for electoral success.
