Emergency Rule Winds Down as Rivers Awaits Fubara’s Return

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara's anticipated return on September 18, 2025, marks the end of the emergency rule imposed in the state. Residents are eagerly awaiting his comeback to resume projects halted during the emergency rule.

The state government has several ongoing projects, including the Port Harcourt Ring Road, which cuts across six local government areas. Fubara's medium aide, Jerry Omatsogunwa, stated that critical infrastructure projects like the Ring Road would be revived immediately upon the governor's return.

The emergency rule was declared by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025, following a prolonged political crisis. Retired Vice Admiral Ibas was appointed as the Sole Administrator during this period to restore political stability.

Ibas has reaffirmed his commitment to vacate office once the emergency period ends, emphasizing the progress made on key projects and the administration's dedication to restoring democracy at the local government level.
