Fubara Expected To Return As Rivers Gov Sept 18 As Emergency Rule Nears End

Rivers State Governor, Fubara, is expected to return to office on September 18 as the state's emergency rule nears its end. The state has been under emergency rule since March 18, 2025, when President Bola Tinubu suspended Governor Fubara and other officials due to prolonged political crisis.

Retired Vice Admiral Ibas was appointed as the Sole Administrator to restore political stability during this period. Ibas, who has been overseeing the state's affairs, is committed to vacating office once his tenure ends and ensuring that projects initiated are completed.

Construction of the new State House Assembly complex is at an advanced stage, with Ibas emphasizing the importance of funding for this key project. He has also stated that he will not seek to extend his stay beyond the emergency rule period.
