Emir Sanusi Leads Historic Maulud Procession in Kano

On Saturday evening at approximately 4:45 p.m., Emir Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II led a special royal horse-riding procession in Kano to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). This event is noted as the first of its kind in the history of the Kano Emirate.

The procession attracted thousands of Muslim faithful who gathered along the major streets of Kano to witness the colorful display. The emir donned a royal red robe and matching turban, rode a specially decorated horse adorned with silver and blue accessories, and carried a traditional Dabo sword.

He was accompanied by senior members of the Kano Emirate Council, including Galadiman Kano Alhaji Mannir Sanusi and Wazirin Kano Alhaji Sa’adu Shehu Gidado, along with palace officials and traditional title holders. The procession began at Kofar Kwaru, moving through various streets, including Mandawari Road and Kofar Diso, before concluding at the Emir’s palace through Kofar Kudu.

The event marked a significant moment in the history of Maulud celebrations in the Kano Emirate.
