OYIGG Demands Investigation into Osun Election Violence

The Osun Youth Initiative for Good Governance (OYIGG) has demanded a thorough investigation into reported pre-election violence in Osun State, particularly following the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, also known as Emir Ajagungbade. In a statement signed by National Convener Dr Adeyemi Akande, the organization condemned the violence that allegedly resulted in over 22 deaths during the pre-election period.

OYIGG criticized Governor Adeleke for not ordering arrests of those responsible for the violence while acting swiftly after the death of Oyeyemi, who was reportedly affiliated with his party. The group also alleged that Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu had raised concerns about wanted individuals being sheltered in the Osun State Government House.

They urged the governor to cooperate with law enforcement and make these individuals available for investigation. OYIGG called on Osun residents to reject political intimidation and for security agencies to ensure accountability for the violence.
