Imole Campaign Council Calls for Probe into Osun Violence

The Imole Campaign Council has formally called on the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to investigate political violence in Esa Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, following the killing of Dele Ayegbo, a nephew of Wole Oke, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign Director-General. The petition, dated August 13, 2026, and signed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council's legal practitioner and spokesperson, urges the NHRC to form an independent panel to probe the recent killing alongside the June 23 murder of Ajayi Aderogba, an Accord Party supporter.

The council condemned the killings and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, rejecting any attempts to assign blame without due process. They also requested the NHRC to examine political incitement and the response of security agencies to prior complaints.

The investigation should encompass all politically connected violence in Esa Oke, including shootings, assaults, and property destruction.
