Oyo Commissioner Mourns Cultural Icon Lekan Alabi

Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, expressed profound sorrow over the death of Oloye Lekan Alabi, a distinguished journalist, author, historian, and the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Olatubosun characterized Alabi's passing as a significant loss to Ibadanland, Oyo State, and the Yoruba cultural heritage. He highlighted Alabi's lifelong commitment to preserving and promoting Yoruba history and culture through his writings and public advocacy.

Olatubosun referred to Alabi as an "encyclopedia of Yoruba history," emphasizing his role as a vital resource for scholars and cultural enthusiasts. He noted that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism greatly benefited from Alabi's knowledge and support for initiatives aimed at promoting tourism and cultural preservation.

Olatubosun extended condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan-in-Council, the Alabi family, and the people of Ibadanland, praying for strength for those affected by this loss.
