MDCN Suspends Doctors Over Chimamanda Adichie's Son's Death

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has taken significant action against medical negligence in the country by suspending three doctors linked to the death of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 21-month-old son, Master Nkanu Adichie Eseg. The suspension affects Dr.

Tosin Majekodunmi, Medical Director at Euracar; Dr. Titu Ogundar, an anaesthesiologist at Euracar; and Dr.

Atinuk Uwajeh, Chief Medical Director at Atlantic Paediatric Hospital. This decision follows a complaint lodged on January 16, 2026, against 21 doctors, leading to a formal disciplinary proceeding.

The MDCN emphasized that its preliminary findings do not equate to a final determination of liability. The council aims to protect the integrity of the Nigerian medical profession and ensure that negligent practitioners do not tarnish the reputation of capable Nigerian doctors.

The MDCN has committed to swift action in cases of medical negligence, underscoring the importance of accountability in healthcare.
