England FA Withdraws Support for Infantino's Re-election

The England Football Association (FA) is expected to officially withdraw its endorsement for Gianni Infantino's re-election as FIFA president, amid growing concerns regarding his leadership. This decision follows the FA's support of UEFA, which declared a lack of confidence in Infantino after he faced backlash for the failed FIFA Forward Enterprises (FFE) project and plans to sell a 21% stake in FIFA's commercial division to an investment group led by Joshua Kushner.

The FA's statement emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of FIFA's leadership and governance to ensure ethical and transparent administration for all 211 member associations. Additionally, the FA of Wales has already rescinded its support for Infantino, and the Football Federation of Serbia has also confirmed it no longer supports him.

The Swiss Football Association is reconsidering its position, while UEFA has threatened legal action over the aborted plans. Infantino previously claimed to have backing from over 200 FIFA member associations, but recent developments have raised serious doubts about his re-election bid, with CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani reportedly considering a challenge.
