France Withdraws Support for Infantino's FIFA Presidency

The French Football Federation (FFF) announced on Thursday that it has withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino's presidency of FIFA, joining England, Italy, the Republic of Ireland, and Scotland in distancing themselves from the FIFA leader. This decision follows Infantino's controversial proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, to private investors, which faced widespread criticism and led UEFA to threaten a boycott of FIFA competitions.

Although Infantino has abandoned the investment proposal, the FFF expressed that concerns regarding FIFA's governance remain unresolved. FFF president Philippe Diallo stated that significant projects impacting football's future require comprehensive information and transparent decision-making processes.

The FFF plans to consult confederations, national associations, players, supporters, and governance experts to propose reforms aimed at restoring confidence and enhancing transparency in FIFA's governance. Infantino is set to seek a fourth term in the presidential election scheduled for March.
