Chelsea FC Fined £10.75M Over Financial Rule Breaches

The English Football Association (FA) has imposed a fine of £10.75 million on Chelsea FC and a nine-month academy transfer ban following breaches of financial regulations during the ownership of Roman Abramovich. This decision comes after a lengthy investigation by the Premier League into undisclosed payments related to player transfers between 2011 and 2018.

The investigation flagged at least six transactions involving players such as Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto'o, and Andreas Christensen, which raised suspicions due to irregular payments made to offshore companies. Additionally, Chelsea received a one-year suspension on first-team transfers, which is deferred for two years pending further investigations.

The Premier League and UEFA are currently reviewing Chelsea's financial records to ensure compliance with financial fair play regulations. This is not the first instance of financial scrutiny for Chelsea, as they were previously fined £8.64 million in July 2023 for incomplete financial reporting for the 2018-2019 season.
