English FA to Withdraw Support for FIFA President Infantino

The English Football Association is preparing to formally withdraw its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino due to the controversy surrounding his abandoned proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors. This decision follows UEFA's threats of legal action against Infantino's plans and his bid for re-election next March, where he requires 106 votes from FIFA's 211 members.

The Scottish FA shares UEFA's lack of confidence in Infantino. FIFA aimed to establish a commercial subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), to manage its major events, including the World Cups, allowing external investors to buy minority stakes.

UEFA has requested that all documents related to this investment plan be preserved and is considering legal proceedings regarding the FFE proposal. Infantino had communicated to FIFA member associations that they could receive $40 million if they supported his controversial proposal, with a deadline set for September 19 to access an initial $20 million.
