ENSIEC Trains Officials for September 26 Elections

The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) is conducting a train-the-trainer workshop for 47 officials in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for September 26. The two-day workshop includes 17 Electoral Officers (EOs), 17 Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs), seven directors, five commissioners, and one administrative secretary.
ENSIEC's Executive Chairman, Prof. Christian Ngwu, stated that the training is essential for updating the knowledge of both experienced and new officers, as some previous trainees are no longer with the commission. The training covers election monitoring and management, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to train ad-hoc staff at the local government level.
Dr. Chukwuemeka Ugboaja, the lead trainer, emphasized the importance of equipping EOs and AEOs with comprehensive knowledge to enhance election conduct. Mr. Okey Okolo, an EO, confirmed that the training will prepare them to handle election-related issues effectively.
The commission aims to ensure a free, fair, and credible election process.
