Enugu State Dismisses False Attack Reports in Awgu

The Enugu State government has officially dismissed reports circulating on social media regarding an alleged attack on residents in the Awgu Local Government Area. Dr. Malachi Agbo, the state commissioner, issued a statement on Monday clarifying that no incidents had occurred in Awgu and described the reports as false and misleading.

He urged the public to disregard these fabrications, which he stated were aimed at creating panic among residents. Agbo reassured the community that they could carry out their daily activities without fear of security breaches.

He emphasized that the state government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, prioritizes security and continues to invest heavily in measures to safeguard lives and property. The commissioner condemned the spread of falsehoods, labeling them as desperate attempts to undermine the state's reputation as one of the safest destinations in the country.

He warned that anyone found involved in creating or disseminating fake news would face the full weight of the law.
