Enugu PDP Chairman Dismisses Parallel Congress Claims

Barr. Steve Oruruo, the chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, addressed claims of parallel congresses within the party, labeling them as baseless and lacking legal foundation.

He spoke on Wednesday regarding the party's formal membership registration exercise, which aims to modernize the traditional methods of mobilization and strengthen the party's structure. This initiative involves 260 ward representatives and local government coordinators to ensure effective membership registration across all communities in the state.

Oruruo highlighted the challenges of digital literacy in rural areas and called for intensified grassroots engagement. He also reaffirmed the party's commitment to resolving internal disputes through dialogue and legal means if necessary.

Furthermore, he noted that any parallel structures formed outside the recognized process would be deemed invalid, referencing a court judgment that nullified certain arrangements. Oruruo expressed confidence that the membership registration initiative would yield significant results in the near future.
