Enugu State Achieves Record IGR of N406.8 Billion in 2025, Meeting 80% Revenue Target

Enugu State's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) reached N406.8 billion in 2025, representing 80% of its N509.9 billion revenue target for the year. The Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Emmanuel Nnamani, disclosed this during a media briefing.

The state's revenue performance has significantly improved, reflecting the impact of reforms introduced by Governor Peter Mbah's administration, particularly in expanding non-tax revenue sources. The revenue figure marks a 125% increase from N180.5 billion generated in 2024, showcasing Enugu State's rapid revenue base expansion.

The state aims to further increase its IGR target to N870 billion in 2026. While tax revenue growth may temporarily slow due to pro-citizen tax reforms, the state expects non-tax revenue improvement to continue driving growth.

Enugu State's revenue transformation is a result of strategic efforts to broaden revenue sources beyond traditional taxes and enhance tax compliance.
