Enugu State Launches Enugu Air to Boost Aviation Sector

Enugu State has officially launched Enugu Air, introducing an Embraer 195 aircraft to its fleet as part of a strategy to compete with established airlines such as Air Peace and Max Air. This launch marks a significant milestone in the state's aviation rollout plan, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening air connectivity and driving economic growth in Enugu and the wider Southeast region.

Enugu Air is operated by the Enugu State government in partnership with Xejet, a privately owned Nigerian airline, aiming to blend public ownership with private sector expertise for efficient operations. The Embraer 195 is recognized for its passenger comfort and efficiency, making it suitable for regional routes.

The airline's CEO, Emmanuel Iza, emphasized the delivery of the aircraft as a crucial step towards establishing a reliable carrier focused on safety and operational excellence. Governor Peter Mbah's commitment to aviation infrastructure development is central to this initiative, which is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and employment opportunities in the state.
