Alonso Demands Better Defense from Chelsea After Hull Draw

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso urged his team to improve defensively following a 2-2 draw against Hull in the Premier League. The match, held at Stamford Bridge, saw Chelsea concede two or more goals for the fourth consecutive league match, extending their streak to 20 games without a clean sheet.

Chelsea initially took the lead with a goal from Morgan Rogers, but Hull equalized through Joao Pedro. Mohamed Belloumi's second goal secured a point for Hull.

Alonso admitted that Chelsea's defensive performance was inadequate, stating, “We got what we deserved.” He criticized his players for allowing Hull to come back into the game and highlighted individual mistakes, particularly from Jorrel Hato, which contributed to the goals conceded. Former defender Ashley Williams noted Chelsea's vulnerability during transitions.

Alonso acknowledged the team's attacking prowess but recognized a significant imbalance, asserting that the tactical choice to use a back four was based on player qualities rather than a solution to defensive issues.
