Equinix to Invest $22M in New Lagos Data Center, Transforming Africa's Digital Landscape

Equinix Inc, a global digital infrastructure company, reveals plans to invest $22 million in a new high-performance data center in Lagos, Nigeria. This investment is part of a larger $100 million initiative to enhance Africa's digital ecosystem over the next two years.

The new data center, set to open in Q1 2026, will provide critical infrastructure to empower local businesses to scale and attract international companies. The facility will also incorporate Equinix Fabric Metro to enable secure connections between physical and virtual infrastructures.

This move signifies Equinix's commitment to bridging Africa's digital divide. Olawale Owoey, Managing Director of Cedarview, highlights the importance of the data center in supporting Nigeria's position as a key player in the global digital economy.
