Eswatini and Japan Sign Green Airport Modernization Deal

Eswatini and Japan have formalized a green airport modernization agreement, which aims to cut high energy costs and reduce carbon intensity in aviation operations. The project, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will involve the installation of solar energy systems and the upgrade of cargo handling facilities to improve energy efficiency.

Additionally, smart technology will be introduced to enhance cargo handling and reduce delays. Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, the Minister of Public Works and Transport in Eswatini, described the signing of this agreement as a significant step towards adopting greener and more resilient technologies in the aviation sector.

The project is expected to boost operational efficiency and strengthen trade facilitation, thereby enhancing Eswatini's competitiveness in the region.
