Ethiopians Shine at Yenagoa City International 10km Race

The Yenagoa City International 10km race, a landmark sporting event in Bayelsa State, showcased elite athletes, with Ethiopian Habtamu Birhan Molla winning the men's category in an impressive time of 29:23.62. Nigerian athlete Gang Jame finished second, clocking 29:59.90, while France's Jame secured third place with a time of 30:16.71.

In the women's race, Ethiopian Sheway Dueo Tolosa emerged victorious with a time of 33:50.07, followed by Tigist Girma Aseta in second place at 34:07.25, and Work Gacasho Jilo in third at 34:57.72. The event was organized by Nilayo Sports Management and received commendation from stakeholders, including Governor Douye Diri, who emphasized the importance of sports in youth empowerment and community engagement.

The race featured a turnout of 1,000 participants and offered cash prizes totaling $10,000 for the top finishers. This inaugural event is seen as a significant step in promoting sports culture in Bayelsa State.
