Gyang Shines at Yenagoa 10km Marathon, Molla Wins

The Yenagoa 10km Marathon featured a notable performance from 17-year-old Gyang, who was among the winners. Ethiopian athlete Habtamu Birhan Molla made history by winning the race with a time of 29 minutes and 23 seconds, earning the star prize of $5,000.

Gyang followed closely with a time of 29 minutes and 59 seconds, while Nigerian runner Franci Jame secured third place with a time of 30 minutes and 16 seconds. In the women's category, Ethiopian athletes dominated, with Sheway Tolosa, Tigist Girma, and Arseta Work finishing in the top three positions.

Nigerian Daylop Patienc placed fourth, and compatriot Vivian Nenyitw Obadiaha finished fifth. Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri stated that his administration would continue to invest in sports development to provide opportunities for youth to realize their potential.

Deputy Governor Peter Akp highlighted the immense benefits of sports in promoting health among citizens.
