EU and Partners Train Zamfara Journalists on Crisis Reporting

The European Union, in collaboration with the Zamfara State Government, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), launched the Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response, and Resilience (CPCRR) project. This initiative aimed to train journalists over two days at Jaiz Hotel in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The training focused on sensitizing journalists to responsibly report in conflict environments, thereby avoiding misinformation and promoting peace. Traditional Islamic scholars, including renowned scholar Sheikh Aminu Aliyu, attended the event, emphasizing the importance of addressing the role of women and girls in economic growth and development in Zamfara State.

Sheikh Aminu Aliyu highlighted the dangers of fake news and urged journalists to verify information before publication to prevent the spread of inaccuracies that could lead to societal unrest.
