Cleen Foundation Trains Journalists on Human Rights in Benue

From March 24 to 26, 2026, the Cleen Foundation, supported by the Norwegian Embassy, held a three-day media training workshop in Makurdi, Benue State. The workshop aimed to strengthen institutional support for justice and gender inclusion.

It brought together civil society leaders, government representatives, and media practitioners to assess challenges in implementing the State Action Plan (SAP) on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) alongside the ACJL framework. Peter Maduoma, Executive Director of Cleen Foundation, emphasized the lack of a functioning SAP implementation committee and budgetary allocations, which stall progress in peacebuilding efforts.

Dr. Victoria Egwor, Executive Director of Elohim Development Foundation, highlighted the delays in trials affecting women.

The workshop featured discussions on the absence of gender policies and the need for advocacy, with participation from various stakeholders including the NBA and Ministry of Women Affairs. The event underscored the urgency of addressing justice delivery gaps and promoting women's rights advocacy.
