Ciro Immobile Retires from Football at Age 36

Ciro Immobile, who was part of Italy’s Euro 2020-winning team, announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36 in a video released on Friday. Immobile, who joined French Ligue 1 club Paris FC in January, stated that it was a challenging moment for him as he reflected on the end of a significant period in his life.

He expressed that he could no longer perform at his best due to ongoing pain during training. Immobile emphasized the importance of family, stating that after 17 years of professional football, it was time to prioritize spending time with them.

Throughout his career, he scored 350 goals in 656 matches, including 207 goals in 340 matches for Lazio, where he became the club's all-time leading scorer from 2016 to 2024. He also played for Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, and Besiktas.

Immobile earned 57 international caps and was part of the Italian squad that won the European Championship in 2021.
