PDP Denies Plans for Jonathan's 2027 Candidacy

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) faction distanced itself from reports alleging plans to convene a convention to endorse former President Goodluck Jonathan as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. The faction described these claims as false, misleading, and unauthorized.

PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Moham, issued a statement on Friday urging security agencies to investigate the sources of these reports and to take appropriate action against those attempting to create political tension and disrepute within the party. The faction's interim National Working Committee, led by Tanimu Turaki, announced plans to convene a convention in Abuja on Saturday to formally endorse a candidate.

However, the PDP emphasized that there was no scheduled convention process approved by the party's leadership. They urged the public to disregard the misleading information and reaffirmed their commitment to democratic processes and integrity within the party.
